Memories

As my boys were getting ready to sit down at the table for lunch today, they started fighting over who got the blue bowl. Does this happen in any other homes or just ours? :) Evan sat down where the blue bowl was and Mason immediately starts screaming "I want the blue bowl!" Evan in turn says "but I got here first". That makes Mace even more mad and he starts screaming, "but it's my favorite color". So I guess it's time to TRY to intervene. I pull Mason off the chair as he's starting to pinch Evan's face and Evan starts trying to get him back. I have to hold Ev back and try to reason with Mace. (Reasoning with a 3 year old - it's usually just a waste of time.) So by this time I remember that there is probably another blue bowl in the dishwasher. BINGO! Problem solved. Now they can both have their blue bowl and everyone's happy (until the next meal).

So my memory involves something sort of like this situation between my older sister, Kelli, and I when we were pre-teens. Our parents had our downstairs finished and that's where our bedrooms were going to be. So there was also a bathroom down there. Well, when the bathroom was done and we were using it for the first time, Kelli and I fought over who was going to flush the toilet first! Could there be anything more petty than arguing over something so dumb?! I doubt not. But we argued and fought for I don't know how long when Mom had to finally intervene and flush the toilet herself and then ground us both.

We both survived that time and I know we fought over many other things as all kids do, but I do credit my mother for not killing us both. Now I guess it's payback.

Thanks for that fun memory Kelli! Even though I was your nemesis and you really didn't like me back then, I love you. Thanks for all you do for my family and me.

I'm glad it is not just my kids!!
The best quote that my 4 year old learned in Preschool is, "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit!" It works great... for us anyways! Boys!

That is hilarious....and so, so true. My brother and I used to fight about who got to say goodnight to my mom last. We would yell goodnight to her for about an hour each night. Finally, my dad said...no more saying goodnight, anymore. Such harsh punishment....sheesh! :)

You are such a fabulous mom! Your boys are going to grow up to be wonderful men!

Thanks for the laughs.

My brother and I used to fight over who got to scoop the "ball" out of the new tub of butter. (You know, that little swirly in the middle that kinda looks like a ball.)

I hear Mason's logic over at my house too: You can't have that because it's MY favorite color! Apparently I am allowed one favorite color, red, because it doesn't interfere with anyone else's favorites.

I think your kids are adorable, Kim, and perfectly normal. You do a great job with them.

Welcome to the club. I've come to realize that boys will always fight. It's in their nature. I just hope that my boys will be good friends when they are older, just like my 4 brothers are.

Kim, you are so funny. This exact same arguement happens in our house daily. Naturally, though, over pink and purple. It's a good thing our kids are so cute. It saves their lives occassionally. And gosh, I NEVER used to fight with my brothers.:) Right.... Still do. Perhaps I should grow up a bit. Love you!!! Jul

That was great! Me and all my sisters faught constantly! My only brother was the peace maker...go figure! I had such a good time with you girls the other night! I miss you all! I loved the movie so much that I borrowed the books and read them all within 4 to5 days. I even took Jesse to the movie on a date night. He definitley (sp?) critiqued it, but what do you do when your married to a "future" VIsual Effects and Motion graphics artist? Love you tons!
