Today just as we were getting out of church, we looked outside and it was pouring! We tried to wait it out for just a few minutes to see if it would let up, but to no avail. The kids were more than ready to go home and more than excited because it was raining. With the help of Brenda Zemp in our ward, I managed to get the kids into the van without to many problems. However, as we were driving to our house we saw that there were 'lakes' everywhere. Evan and Mason were quite aware of this fact also and excitedly exclaimed, "We want to play in the rain mom. Can we go out when we get home?" Against my own wishes that they would quietly go in the house and lay down for a Sunday afternoon nap (nap? nap? what's a nap?), I said they could go out when daddy came home. They didn't want to play in our backyard, but out front where all the puddles were - hence, the reason they had to wait for Rex. I don't let them play out front alone. Ty was crying, hungry, and more than ready for his nap and I needed to tend to him. Along the same note, it was humid, humid, humid that day and I did not want to spend any time outside if I didn't need to. Well, this did not satisfy their curious selves, so I gave in. I picked up Ty and we all went outside to play. They could hardly contain themselves. They wanted to get wet. They first stuck their hands in to feel the water and then they ventured a little further and started playing in the fast running water coming down the ditch. Eventually, off came the shoes and they were completely wet. As you can see, Mason was quite brave and actually sat down in the ditch and even laid down. As my boys were playing in the ditch I wondered if I was doing a good thing by letting them just play and get entirely wet, or if it was a terribly bad idea because they were literally playing in the ditch on the street. Well, I decided that I just needed to let them play however they wanted, within reason. After all, it doesn't rain that often here. Evan had on his Sunday clothes but Mason had changed. So there they are as wet as can be and having a ball. I did explain to them that they only do this type of thing when Mommy or Daddy are with them.

Kim & Rex, Your boys are so adorable! It looks like monsoon season is in full swing and that your kids know what to do! When it rains here, my kids run for shelter!
For updates on our family, check out our blog!

TOO FUN!! I love it! It brought back so many memories! My sisters and brother use to play in a ditch right by our house or at my grandma's when it rained....except we had HUGE buckets and dumped them on each other! Thanks for sharing that!
Kim, I just checked my e-mail (finally) and saw your new blog. Woo hoo! I loved seeing your pics and reading about what's going on. (Post some pictures of you, you cutie!) I will add you to my favorites so I can check in with you all.
Kim!!! I found your blog. You will have fun blogging and your family will love seeing pics of your kids. Feel free to add us as your friends. http://the6kepharts.blogspot.com Natalie
Kim, I just now found your blog off of Natalies. I am so happy that you are blogging!! That is so weird about the rain b/c it did not rain at all at my house. Vegas rain is funny like that! Even though it is a mess I always let my kids play in the rain, for the simple fact that it hardly rains here. I know your boys had a blast!!
That's boys for you! But they'll remember the fun they had. You can add us to your blog list if you want (just don't use our last name) and I'll add you to ours, if I can ever get it right.
