Today Evan found out the 'real' truth about the music truck that drives around our neighborhood nearly every day. Ever since he was little, whenever the ice cream truck came around the neighborhood, we'd say "there is the 'Music Truck' " (it plays the tune to "Popeye the Sailor Man"). He would always run to the couch or wherever he could see it to watch it go by. Well, this afternoon out of the blue Evan says, "Mommy, what is the music truck? "Well, it's the truck that drives around and plays music", says Mommy. "But what else does it do?", asks Evan. "It stops and talks to kids, why do you ask?", says Mommy. "Because the other day I saw some kids giving the guy in the music truck some money", says Evan. Well, I sheepishly looked down at his very inquisitive face and said, "Evan, I have something to tell you. The Music Truck is really the ice cream truck. You can buy ice cream from the man that drives it." He doesn't know the reason we didn't tell him it was the ice cream truck (he'd ask for ice cream every time), but I'm sure one day he'll understand.
