Where does the time go?

Time is literally getting away from me.  I feel like this past year has gone by so fast and I am dragging behind it.  So much to blog about and it is a little overwhelming.

Here's what is going on with us:
Paige turned 1 on Friday the 18th.  As of a few days ago she is officially walking - I say that because she seems to prefer walking now to crawling.  Can't quite get herself to standing position from the middle of the floor but will crawl to something to help her up.  I just love when babies are just learning to walk.  She is a little tipsy and really has to concentrate in order to not fall.    Today I took her to the doctor for 12 month well check.  She weighs 20 lbs. and her head circumference is in the 5th percentile...which it's always been...but she is growing right along her own curve so she is fine.   She got four shots - 2 in both legs - and cried and cried.  Also had to have a pin prick on her toe so they could make sure she is not anemic (I guess it's a 'test' they have to do now just to make sure).  She still nurses 3-4 times a day and I still loves nursing.  That is also time I just cherish...when I can sit down and just relax and let her suckle and it's just me and her.  Surprisingly, she has only bit me one time...and that was right when she was cutting her first few teeth.  I remember pulling her in close to my chest so she'd let go and she hasn't tried biting anymore.  My conclusion is that it is because she doesn't take a bottle.  When babies drink from a bottle, they can bite it all they want and so they try to bite when nursing.  But, when you don't bottle-feed they don't get that biting experience and that is nice.  All the boys took bottles but she has done great with just nursing.  My favorite is that she puts her little hand on my chest when she is nursing.

It is funny to me that Paige's first words are "hi" and "bye" - as she waves her little hand in the air.  I stand in front of the mirror and wave at her and then she waves back.  She loves to look in the mirror.  She is a GABBER!  My mom says it's because she's a girl.  I don't remember my boys just talking and making sounds like she does.  A lot of times she'll say what sounds like 'oh yeah' with such inflection in her voice.  She also nods her head for yes and no.  When I am nursing her, I'll ask her a question like "did you have fun today?" and she nods her head yes or no.

Paige also says 'uh-oh'.  She will say it over and over again if I say it with her.  Cole is still Paige's 'pusher'.  He finds it his job to push her down whenever he can.  Even when she's just walking around he goes up to her from behind and shoves her to the floor.  Rex and I are trying really hard to know how to give him the attention he needs without making a big deal out of when he pushes her...it only eggs him on to do it more.  We try time out on the stairs or on his bed and it seems to work sometimes.  Sometimes, though, he is very difficult to reason with and get to sit still.

Look at that hair-do - That is one COOL mohawk that
Ty and Mason would be jealous of.

Paige digs into her birthday cake

Loves to climb on the trike

"Look at me!  I climbed up all by myself!"

'Helping' put the dishes away

It has been such nice weather here the last 4-5 days.  Paige LOVES LOVES LOVES to be outside.  Now that she is walking instead of crawling (and picking up every little thing off the ground and putting it in her mouth) I don't mind letting her be in the backyard when the boys are playing.  She usually finds a ball or something to hold on to and then just wanders around...she'll find a toy to crawl onto occasionally or sit on the bottom of the slide, but she is just content as can be to be enjoying the outside.

What a cute little girl! It is fun to hear about all the stages she is going through. I miss having a toddler! Enjoy and appreciate such good times. I wish we were having good weather. This time of year makes me miss Vegas.

Oh, she is darling! And her cake is so cute! Sara turns one at the end of the month and it makes me sad ... The year has just flown by! I wish time could slow down just a little bit. Sara doesn't take a bottle, either--are you still nursing Paige? I don't know if I should be tring to wean her or if I should just keep enjoying our time together for a while longer.

Hope you are all doing well!
