Backyard Finally Finished

Our backyard is finally finished! What started as a rough drawing on some graph paper two years ago, just after we moved in, is finally done. I mowed our grass for the first time today and it has taken root really well. A BIG THANK YOU GOES TO THE MANY FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT HELPED ME GET THIS DONE! I COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU. Below in roughly sequential order is some photos of the construction process that started last summer. We didn't get photos of a few of the major milestones including forming and pouring the patio and sidewalks, forming and pouring the mow curbs, removing truck load after truck load of large rocks that were dug up during trenching and rototilling of the yard, trenching and installing the irrigation, planting the trees and shrubs, building the trellises, and installing the turf. I will always remember however, that we installed the "green" turf on St. Patrick's day just before a major rainstorm. Most of the other steps of the process are documented in the photos below. As you can tell, I received a lot of help - especially from my four boys. :0)
